Say what you want about Dungeons & Dragons,
it does provide a useful way to conceptualize moral philosophy
I'm talking specifically here about the concept of alignment.
In D&D, your character has various attributes: strength,
intelligence, bla bla. One attribute is your alignment, your
basic moral outlook. What makes this concept useful to the
world is that your character isn't just 'good' or 'evil';
there's a second axis, lawful/chaotic. Two axes aren't really
enough to capture the complexities of human
moral philosophy, but they're much more nuanced than the
single dimension we habitually use.
