From Wikipedia, enjoy this chart showing the interactions
of the Standard Model's components. Leptons include the familiar
electron. Up and down quarks make up protons and neutrons.
Photons are light, duh, but also all other electromagnetic
interactions, like the ones holding your molecules together.
Ws and Zs transform one type of particle into another. Gluons
hold quarks together. The (still hypothetical) Higgs particle
gives things mass. Edward
Tufte would approve.

Here's another beautifully concise
diagram from Wikipedia, showing the nuclear
fusion reactions powering the Sun and other stars like
