This Brooklyn-based ensemble was the brainchild of Kate and myself. Our project is to rescue this music we love from esoteric abstraction, and to reconnect it to our audience. We bring a fresh and energetic approach to the jazz and funk idioms through creative new arrangements of standards, the exploration of "new standards" (Björk, Leonard Cohen, Bob Dylan, the Beatles, Dolly Parton), and a diverse body of original songs penned by members of the group.
